I woke up at 8:00, really wishing that I could have had a few more hours of sleep before driving so far. But I knew that if I didn't leave then, I'd be driving into the night, which would be even worse than driving tired during the day. After I was up and around I was fine, and was out of the hotel by 9:00. The desk staff at this hotel was really snooty...makes me glad that I don't work in a hotel anymore. Just because you are a full service hotel doesn't mean that you can't smile at your guests and act happy. Too much emphasis seems to be put on being professional, and people lose sight of the fact that guests don't want to deal with sour front desk employees with sticks up their butts!
Once I was on my way, and on a highway I would stay on for a bit, I stopped for breakfast at a McDonalds in Delaware. It was smooth, uneventful and thus boring to read about all the way through Virginia, until I was ready for some lunch. I stopped at an Arby's and got some of their chicken bites that you pour sauce onto then shake up as well as curly fries. It was good (what buffalo chicken isn't good?) but was kinda overpriced for what you got.
I called mom as I was entering Tennessee, and she said that my grandpa was still doing ok, but they hadn't done the Pacemaker surgery yet. I was running severely low on gas when I stopped somewhere in east Tennessee, then opted for dinner at a Taco Bell in Cookeville. It wasn't terribly late when I got home, and I managed to get all my photos transferred to my computer before I collapsed into bed.
